YUANLIN YU
Spring Festival is the Chinese Lunar New Year.
It is a folk festival that integrates the removal of the old and the new, offering sacrifices to gods, praying for blessings and eliminating evil spirits, reunion of relatives and friends, celebration and entertainment, and food. The traditional culture of the Spring Festival has a long history. Carrying forward these cultures is the responsibility and mission of each of us Chinese.
With the development of the times, activities such as setting off firecrackers, pasting window grilles, eating dumplings, and keeping the year old are rarely seen around us. Today’s children and teenagers are rarely able to experience these folk cultural activities. I don’t want these traditional cultures to lose their vitality. I hope more people can understand and love our traditional culture. Especially in this era of globalisation, I hope to pay more attention to the promotion of traditional Chinese culture, so that more friends around the world can understand and love our traditional Chinese culture.
I use a lot of traditional Chinese elements in my works, such as lanterns, Chinese classical architecture, classical window grilles, palace lanterns, door gods, tiger-headed hats, tiger-headed shoes, traditional markets, tile-roofed houses, etc., to render the power of the Chinese New Year. I hope through the pictures, more people want to know about Chinese Spring Festival culture and join in. Audience, children and teenagers, friends all over the world. Let more friends from all over the world understand and love our Chinese traditions.
