MA Sequential Design/Illustration
Our graduates in 2022 have produced work spanning an impressive range of outcomes including illustration, photography, writing, animation, graphic novels, comics, soft sculpture, printmaking, digital games and books — a testament to our belief that a subject can be explored and communicated through many different mediums, processes and platforms.
Students are encouraged to develop personal responses to subjects through rigorous research using sequence and visual storytelling to reflect the greater human experience.
They have found imaginative and positive ways to investigate and challenge a range of subjects including the effects of toxic masculinity, navigating online spaces and the former one-child policy in China. Their eclectic concerns include exploring a sense of material identity, the loneliness of youth, lucid dreaming, coping with poor memory and the invention of monstrous post-human creatures.
