Diaspora Mise-En-Place is a fictional graphic novel that uses the image of Pho, Vietnamese beef noodle soup, as a metaphor for representing student immigrants’ experiences in the Western world.

The story centres around Han, a young woman who decides to move from Viet Nam to a foreign country. While trying to live independently, she struggles with the sense of otherness.

As she learns how to cook her mother’s Pho recipe using Western ingredients, it guides her to a deeper understanding of her family and herself. This story aims to sympathise with the unspoken struggles of immigrants and offer them hope and possibilities in the unknown.
