Megan Ryan
Megan is a multi-disciplinary artist who enjoys working with time and element sensitive materials.
Her current work draws on autobiographical and life experiences, related to personal journeys which most people go through at some point in their lives.
Megan’s degree show work, Me, Myself and I, contains a collection of twelve wax casts of her own head and neck with four of the casts melted to varying degrees.
The heads are arranged in a diamond formation on the floor, with a screen positioned in the middle of the casts. On the screen an animation plays showing a three dimensional render of an image of Megan’s head morphing into a range of different forms.
Me, Myself and I, explores the process of physical and emotional change an individual goes through in life, and how they can be transformed and changed. These shifts are not necessarily seen as a bad thing as change can invite new experiences and challenges.
Megan plans to continue wax material investigations within her sculpture practice following graduation.
In May 2022 Megan’s wax cast installation work, Journeys, was shown as part of the 2022 Brighton festival exhibition, Towards the Light, at Regency Townhouse Basement.
