BA(Hons) Fine Art Sculpture
Fine Art: Sculpture
Welcome to the 2022 BA (Hons) Fine Art: Sculpture Degree Show of graduating student work. The Fine Art: Sculpture course is a well-established practice – based course where students explore the relationship between concepts, materials, space, and context to produce handmade and digital work in a variety of forms. The course has a long and proud tradition of creating innovative work presented in curated group exhibitions and this year is no exception.
The work in the sculpture exhibition includes interactive work that creates a community of makers through audience participation, performative work that invites audiences to play and create music and artworks which act as contemporary memorials and sites of reflection on loss.
Lived experience informs the works within the exhibition where themes of gender, the body, nature, transformation, familial and partner relationships and examination of the self are explored. The significance, power, and presence of objects as vessels to hold memory feature within this inspiring body of work.
The course staff team applaud the 2022 student cohort for their achievements in creating such an exciting and dynamic exhibition. This final year group of sculpture students have enjoyed creating physical work for public exhibition, something they missed during their first and second year due to Covid restrictions. The year group have embraced the learning curve of professional practice challenges with focus, determination and tenacity producing personally and collectively ambitious artworks.
The variety of materials and forms of work produced represents a group of young artists who have enthusiastically celebrated a return to the physical act of making and exhibiting.
This year, 2022, is a particularly special show as it is the last Fine Art: Sculpture course exhibition. The current course has developed into the Fine Art course which embraces and develops much of the sculpture course experience.
We celebrate the 2022 cohort of the sculpture course and encourage visitors to come and see this marvellous final year exhibition.
