Prayer is real, our prayers are heard.
Beyond any founded religion, prayer is an innate part of humanities existence. Prayer and connection to the earth is at the essence of all indigenous cultures who still have their traditions intact. My intention for Prayer Tree is to remind us our natural ability to commune with the earth, and the power of our prayer.
My practice reflects the multidimensional animism that is my experience of the natural world. With intuitive process orientated sculpture, performance, heart centred community projects and prayer, it is my intent to interweave the wild and sacred ways of our ancestors into our lives today and into the future that humanity is collectively dreaming.
Through a growing sensitivity to the subtle dimensions, I am learning the extent of which we, are not separate. The way we are looking to ‘save’ nature is half the job, and futile if we are not gazing into our own hearts to discover the roots of the disconnection. As well as our climatic emergence being inseparable from the social injustice, poverty and epidemic of worldwide violence and mental un-wellness, the wellbeing of the planet as a whole is inseparable from the disconnection to our own true nature. We must look within to breathe life into our personal and ancestral roots of what it truly means to be human. There is no re-wilding of the earth if we do not re-wild our minds and hearts. So, the essence of my practice stands to engage the audience in a personal reflection on their connection to the earth, and to their own wild spirit. To take the physical, scientifically biological connection to the earth, and expand it into the recently forgotten realms of the indigenous human heart. I am here to give space for the remembrance of humanities true and sacred place in the tapestry of life, a place of harmony, beauty and innocence.
