I am a multidisciplinary maker, designer, and storyteller who enables familiar senses to be experienced in a variety of ways, while evoking different sensory aspects. I most enjoy creating playful and experimental objects with a range of media. My practice this year has chiefly explored themes of sense. I have attempted to reinterpret the senses: the everyday experiences of seeing, hearing, tasting, and more.
“La conversation” is a visualization of personal experience regarding sound in visual situations. One day, I heard two couples conversing in a cafe, but I didn’t understand their conversation. One couple were talking in an angry and rough tone, and the other were talking in a gentle and loving tone. I felt like their words were falling on the table in the form of objects and forming a landscape. I tried to make tactile objects with the imagery of each tone. It’s a visualization of the “tone” beyond language or content.
“It’s not…” was inspired by “La trahison des images (This is not a pipe)” by René Magritte. This is a project that seeks to create a unique food experience by blurring boundaries between seeing and eating. This landscape is a mixture of the edible and the inedible, which blend to form one landscape of experience.
