Bwrdd Blodeuwedd/Blodeuwedd’s Table by Tesni Calennig
This collection explores a correlation between oral storytelling tradition in Wales and craft, emphasizing the importance of community. Despite the prevalence of ready-made entertainment today, many traditions and stories from Wales live on. By creating symbolic and interactive objects, I aim to inspire people to practice storytelling and showcase the rich heritage and culture of Wales. I sourced the oak used from Eryri and decided to focus on telling the story “Blodeuwedd” from the Mabinogion based local to the wood ensuring a connection between material and narrative depicted. Having a dining table as the main piece created a space that embodies the story where people can gather, share their own daily tales, and foster a sense of giving and receiving.
