Réka Fruzsina Ujvári
Hi, my name is Réka, I’m a printmaker and illustrator. “Aphelion” is my final body of work for our Graduate Show.
Aphelion – noun (astronomy)
the point in the orbit of a planet, asteroid, or comet at which it is furthest from the sun.
My current practice and the body of work I am presenting at the Graduate Show revolves around family, memory and forgetting. I am particularly interested in the way that the image may evoke the impermanence of memory, making images that change, fragment, and fade over time. The process I put through my images/photos is a reflection of how our memories are constantly changing over time. My main influences for this body of work were Christian Boltanski and Brooks Shane Salzwedel.
I like to use transparent materials to allow the image to be reflective and become fragile. In my other works, I use resin to embalm the images, trying to cast versions of the same memories like fossils, preserved in time.
