Artist Statement

Reece Coyle is a digital photographer who actively engages in the exploration of still-life and documentary processes. His artistic endeavours revolve around utilising photography as a medium for constructing narratives or conveying impactful messages. His practice may also incorporate recurring themes such as symbolism, interpretation, mystery, and the unnatural.

Within his latest project, entitled “Puppets of Society,” Coyle meticulously crafts studio-based images that metaphorically encapsulate the perception of control and manipulation prevailing within a democratic society. These visual compositions serve as powerful symbols that effectively capture the numerous struggles experienced by individuals and underscore the intricate power dynamics inherent in such a system.

Drawing inspiration from personal tribulations and a diverse range of interpersonal encounters, Coyle intertwines his own life experiences into the fabric of his artistic creations. The ongoing nature of his current project further emphasises its role as a veritable chronicle, archiving Coyle’s present state of mind and his observational position within the wider scope of life.
