Poppy Kampalis
My final project is a short children’s animation intended to inspire and entertain, which has been created in a colourful and visually-appealing style. It focuses on themes of fitting-in, differences, empathy, bullying and friendship. I created this animation in Adobe After Effects, and it marks my first attempt at animating a four-legged walk cycle. I was inspired to create this animation by popular children’s animated features such as those created by Disney. As an artist I aim to create engaging content for my target audience that they will connect with on an emotional level.
About me: My art style is inspired by some of my favourite animation studios. I like to design characters in a cute, exaggerated style, using bright, vivid colours. I work with different methods and technologies, but the traditional animation style and method appeals to me the most. I usually make my animations digitally using Adobe software, but also like to experiment with hand-drawn animation and paper assets. I aim to tell lighthearted, happy stories with my animations and am inspired by the cartoons that I grew up watching. The aim of my work is to entertain and make people feel good. I always try to ensure that my animations have a professional appearance and look smooth and polished. I create visually appealing animations and my goal is for my viewers to enjoy themselves when they view my work. I aim to develop my skills further and create animations which can inspire others in the same way that I have been inspired to create my own work.
