Kinetic Artefacts - A materialisation of the inner landscape
My practice explores the human condition through the symbiosis of artistic expression and scientific analysis. Using movement, spontaneous mark-making and form to contain experiences in large scale paintings, I wanted to extend my self into three dimensional artefacts which represent archetypes and fragments of my being. Through a materialisation of mindscapes into metallic kinetic talismans, these objects are intended to be held and interacted with, acting as haptic stimulus to bring attention to the present moment. Influenced by the symbols of my unconscious as well as scientific instruments, I have attempted to entangle two opposing perspectives on the human condition into a collection of dualistic objects. This project has become the underpinning for further explorations of the inner landscape through various perspectives and different materials, these artefacts acting not only as objects in their own right, but models for larger kinetic sculptures, intended to be placed in public spaces and interacted with by the natural elements .
