Kathrin Bowles
Cirque Berserk
My collection has been heavily inspired by Clowncore Aesthetic, a colourful streetwear trend which celebrates clowns, circuses and clashing patterns. I have always been drawn to bright colours and fun, childish prints and I wanted my collection to reflect this side of side of my personality. I wanted my prints to be light hearted, illustrative and paint stories of circus life and the characters you find there, the colour palette I’ve used has been mainly comprised of diluted and subdued primary colours and I have chosen to print on glossy, reflective satins to mimic traditional clown costumes which would have been made of shiny synthetic fabrics.
My aim from the outset of this year has been to create a genderless collection of loose, shapeless dresses, skirts and tees in playful prints as I feel this is an option which is lacking from the fashion industry at the moment.
