Your life online is being erased.
The e-culture vault is an anthropological initiative that provides a platform for cultural experiences and phenomenon that are created within virtual worlds.
It functions as a body for facilitating the creation, collection, and communication of the nuances of life within these spaces.
The experiences of communities in virtual worlds are seen as lesser than those in the physical world, and this leads to an acceleration in the erasure of said virtual experiences.
Anyone can participate. The e-culture vault projects are collaborative pieces with virtual world inhabitants, to ensure that their communication is one of appreciation instead of appropriation.
The vault retains its relevancy as our digital history progresses. It aims to build a community of facilitators that work together to perform large scale creative community projects.
Ideology within design
This proposal is shaped by existentialism’s aim for individuality. The individuality it strives for is one of culture; the separation and autonomic control of culture, by its users for its users, without the constant fear of underperforming in profit. This proposal hopes to give virtual community cultures a chance to be appreciated and recorded safely, so that their instances in history are not forgotten once technology no longer supports them. Virtual culture deserves to be remembered as ‘real’ culture.
