How might we improve the 'last mile commute'?
Drillify Your Board was started to improve your ‘last mile commute’. The ‘last mile’ refers to that last leg of a journey that is often walked. Skateboarding is an efficient and fun answer to this problem but has a steep learning curve and can be dangerous for beginners. Electrification helps with these issues by allowing skaters to focus on balancing, giving them more control, and bringing the addition of brakes.
Cordless power drills have very similar components to e-boards and carry a high environmental impact due to lack of use. My aim was to improve the ‘last mile commute’ by turning any skateboard / longboard into an e-board using the internal components from a cordless drill. The interaction between the drill and skateboard takes the form of a 3D printed motor mount that is fully adjustable and bio-degradable using natural PLA plastic. This means the project is fully reversible and completely carbon-neutral.
