Originating from an industrial coastal town in South East England, Jack Digby began his artistic journey studying 3D Design at the University for the Creative Arts. He began honing his craft at the University of Brighton while studying Fine Art: Sculpture. His work is heavily influenced by these roots; using heavy materials and immersive mediums he showcases the juxtapositions between nature and the man-made.
Common themes throughout Digby’s work include the exploration of light and space, although there is a fluidity within the methodology demonstrated between his early work with fluorescent light, and his current experimentation with fibre optics. There is, however, a loyalty to narrate themes of human nature and its subsequent decay – even throughout influential life events such as the Covid-19 pandemic. This artist captures damage and the intricacy of regrowth while staying humble in his art, his beginnings, and himself.
