Iselin Skuseth Flo
Iselin Skuseth Flo is a student from Norway, passionate about graphic design, visual communication, and photography. Her aim is to expand her network, to learn from fresh opportunities, in addition to advance in creative and technical skills. She is particularly interested in psychological topics, and they often appear in her work.
Project statement for final year project:
“The Modern Woman” is a research project. As a graphic design student, I have explored the ‘New Woman’ of Modernism, and how she has been represented in magazines. This character emerged in the 1920s and became a crucial definition of the Modern Movement. The aim of my project is to investigate European magazine covers, to see how women were represented in a time-frame of around a decade. Through this investigation, the project will pinpoint the characteristics of the Modern Woman.
I will utilise a range of document and research strategies (printmaking, collage-making, illustration, photography, etc), to gather visual evidence for my outcome. My outcome will be an artist’s book, containing a collection of visual work and texts based on my own understanding of the topic.
