‘There’s Muck.’

The pornographic world has been very harmful towards everyone, women, trans women, men, trans men etc. It fetishizes people in a harmful manner and exploits people’s trauma. ‘There’s Muck’ is a dive into the world generated from porn with each title being a quote straight from pornographic magazines. It provides every level in which porn is created, this work looks to place women in a world of freedom and fun where their nudity is just an extension of life. ‘There’s Muck’ is a blunt explanation of the way people view a body. Starting with the animation, the under layer consists of layered pornographic videos of women kissing and having intercourse. Using aftereffects, I subtracted the original video’s purpose by messing with the contrast and layer four videos on top of each other. When doing so you are left with abstract shapes moving on top of one another. The head layered on top, is an almost God like figure turning rotating. This shows the visceral aspects of porn whilst including the perfect figure forever rotating over it. The paintings are a mixture of oil paint, spray paint and collaged pornographic images and drawings. This work is where I look to place people in a carefree world, having the pornographic images as a step back into the original inspiration for the work. As the work goes on you start with a pornographic video, into magazine work and then the final stage in which the painterly aspects bring you to some more human emotions. If you look at my work and only see the naked body you ignore the people, made up of their personalities, their emotions, their politics, or provocations. I want my work to anger the small minded and amuse those that appreciate the outrageous and controversial.
