"A crumbling cliffline releases history everytime rocks fall. The thunder fills my ears. Eventually the cliffs will leave the waves behind, taking the landscape with it."
My need to be in nature is great, to relieve the everyday stresses and feel calm.
My memories of childhood are filled with walks and hikes to places I have come to love.
This project is about experiencing and remembering a location or a walk, and in doing so has also been a way to benefit my mental health.
When going on walks along the coastline in Brighton, or at my home in South Wales, I take recordings of the location through drawing, audio, videos, printing and making in clay.
I use text, drawings, stamps, slip and printing methods as surface decoration to translate my experiences into my ceramic vessels. The shapes of these pieces are also used to visually represent the landscapes they are inspired by.
I hope that through these vessels someone else can understand and feel the calmness I find in nature.
