“Dreamscape”
This project explores ideas of escapism through nature, drawing visual research from natural landscapes, reimagined in dreamlike colours and abstract shapes.
Visual research has been drawn from my own primary photography of landscapes, which have been reimagined in an abstract and dreamlike ways. Contemporary abstract artists like Tommo Campbell and Rowan Rosie have inspired a colour palette of neutrals in combination with bright pastels, which has been used in development of collages using mixed media and experimental materials. These have been used to inform the collection of woven textiles by inspiring shape, texture, and colour. A combination of cotton, organza, monofilament, and plastic fancy yarns has been used to create plastic like qualities in a collection of lightweight woven textiles, that aim to evoke feelings of joy and happiness.
