Edward Hearn
Edward Hearn’s work primarily focuses on the connection between sound and image, often portraying elements of the natural world. His concepts and themes explore the impact and damages the technical world has on the natural world. Applying various sounds and abstract imagery to navigate the viewer through this relationship between the worlds and how technology within this, can manipulate the surrounding nature. His moving image work falls in line with video art and installation to evoke a sense of calm, juxtaposed against unsettling imagery. Creating a feeling of loss, confusion, isolation and sadness. Experimentation is a key part in his creative process that enables him to create imagery using objects, water and lighting, often recreating early abstract imagery. In addition to imagery, Edward includes ambient music in his moving image works that aims to create a sense of stillness.
Remote is an abstract video that focuses on the emotion of loneliness. The work depicts various landscapes, colours and repetition to attempt to indulge the viewer. The video illustrates the internal struggles of someone with lonely thoughts and how it can be visually represented. The imagery was inspired by early computer art and early video artists like Stan Brakhage, Harry Smith, Nam June Paik and Larry Cuba.
