“Series of a Dancer” is a project that captivates you in the world of Merce Cunningham’s choreography using visual graphics. Through a series of books, a dancer comes to life, showcasing abstract visual elements that capture the essence of the movements: jumps, turns and controlled body movement. The project takes you on a journey of exploring the art of dance with an innovative approach, through three different books:

“The Dancer” is a Risograph printed concertina  book, unfolding revealing abstract silhouettes of a dancer in motion. The intentional fading in the design evokes the illusion of the dancer gradually vanishing, as if passing through the very pages themselves.

“In Motion” encapsulates the various movements performed throughout the choreographic piece. The book contains a series of large-scale screen prints experimenting with various colors from light to dark, portraying the visual fading of motion.

“Motion book” is an interactive outcome in which the viewer participates in the revealing of the story through controlling the progression of movement as they flip through the pages.
