My final major project’s theme is sanctuary.
As an interior architecture student I have always been interested in houses and understanding the importance of interiors, especially since we have all been at home and self-isolating during Covid-19, so I wanted to design a house that is designed based on glass.
The glass that is being used is stained glass, the reason being I wanted to reflect a design on the glass into the interior, through the sunlight that is directed at the glass from the outside. Whilst having solid walls could make people feel like they are in prison or captivity. It can also have a bad influence on their health, while having large glass windows it can give people a sense of freedom, as if they are outside. As a result, I was also captivated by the natural beauty of the forest view, and I wanted to explore the forest and live in a house by the forest.
In these circumstances, I believe my outcome is just what I require for living during a long period of isolation.
