Ash Faers
I am interested in the world around me, as it is directly accessible, and the objects that permeate it. My eyes trace the ground wherever I go and I began picking up objects that interested me. I am a trained volunteer litter picker but as I collect some of these objects for my work I have had to find space for these objects in my personal spaces rather than in the bin as they accumulate. Carrying and collecting a small burden of ‘litter’.
My collections and assemblages of objects present material realities of our environment at present, questions about the objects’ pasts, and about our futures. To get people to really look, even beyond the object itself, at the things their gazes usually shy away from as well as revealing some of the strangeness of human nature and the beauty in small things.
