As a filmmaker I have an interest in giving people a voice that might otherwise be denied one. I aim to make films that portray social issues in a visually interesting way and with that contribute to the wider discussions about representation and equality in our society. I choose an approach that seems most suitable for the topic and am interested in all sorts of techniques and styles, may that be animation, fiction or documentary. What is most fascinating to me are interactions and relationships and I want to understand why we do things the way we do them and what impact this has on a larger scale. My influences range from the depiction of childhood trauma in Summer 1993 (Simón, 2017) and the struggles of outsiders in The Miseducation of Cameron Post (Akhavan, 2018) to the fight for justice in Nothing but the Sun (Ullón, 2020). I am interested in the peculiar characters in Amélie (Jeunet, 2001), the portrayal of disability in Mary & Max (Elliot, 2009) and the way feelings and desires are conveyed in Call Me by Your Name (Guadagnino, 2017).
