Integrated Foundation Year
The School of Architecture, Technology and Engineering’s Integrated Foundation Year brings together students on the Architecture, Interior Architecture and Product Design undergraduate pathways. The course introduces the fundamental and shared principles of architecture and design through a series of small design projects and workshops.
So far this term the studio has explored sketch model making, prototyping, orthographic drawing, collage, net drawing and net design, textile explorations, photocopy drawing, tonal drawing techniques, analytical drawing, sketching, maquette making, spot welding, form, structure and surface, balance and suspension, user, function and programme, strap on devices… and they’ve even built their own camera!
Having spent the year studying and working together, sharing experiences and exploring skills, our studio members will complete a discipline specific final design project before they embark on their chosen undergraduate pathway.
